Product Overview
I recently tried out the Uniden Bearcat SR30C, a 500 channel hand held scanner with loads of features in a convenient compact design. I found it to be an excellent entry level portable scanner. It s perfect for someone who may not want to spend a lot of money on a high end scanner, but still wants good performance.
The SR30C is easy to use and comes with pre sets for the most popular searches. You can listen to over 32,000 frequencies and the triple conversion design ensures excellent performance. The close call RF capture technology instantly tunes you into signals from nearby transmitters and you can even program your scanner using your PC with the included USB cable. The priority scan function scans designated priority channels while the delay function helps prevent missed replies during two way conversations. Other features include keypad entry, earphone jack, key lock, battery low alert, and battery save.

The SR30C is perfect for anyone wanting to stay informed of their local news or just listen in on emergency services like police or fire. It is also great for hobbyists who are into ham radio or CB radio as well as those interested in civil aircrafts or marine life. With its three power options USB cable from a PC or other USB power source, two AA alkaline batteries not included , or two AA rechargeable Ni MH batteries not included this scanner is extremely versatile and user friendly.
Overall I was really impressed with how much bang you get for your buck with this scanner! The Uniden Bearcat SR30C serves as an excellent entry level portable scanner that offers great performance without breaking the bank. It might not be suitable for digital communications such as Project 25, DMR, NXDN, but it s more than enough if you re just looking to stay informed of local news or listen in on emergency services like police or fire. Highly recommend!
